Anthracnose on durian flowers — what is the cause?
The main cause is the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.

The disease develops strongly during the rainy season. Once the disease has appeared in the orchard, fungal spores will spread via wind, irrigation water, and easily infect other trees.
The disease commonly appears on leaves and especially during the flowering stage, causing durian flowers to stop developing, leading to flower drying and mass flower drop.
What should be done when the tree is in bloom and anthracnose appears?
Farmers should proceed with flower thinning. Durian trees produce many flower clusters, but only a few clusters should be kept, spaced apart and not located near the branch tips. If a cluster has too many flowers, the number of flowers in that cluster should also be reduced.
So how to prevent and control the disease?
Prevention: Spray fungicides regularly, especially after heavy rains.
Control: When anthracnose appears, farmers should combine Tebu Top and BMFE 70, which contain active ingredients specialized in controlling fungal diseases, especially anthracnose. This will help eliminate the source of infection, keep the trees healthy, and promote strong branches and glossy fruits.
