Thrips damaging durian.

BMFE
Thrips damaging durian.

On durian trees, the main species are Scirtothrips dorsalis and Thrips sp. During the day, thrips are relatively active and agile.

When disturbed, they move to other leaves or feign death by dropping to the ground. They often hide in young leaves, flower stalks, fruit stalks, and flower pistils, causing damage at various growth stages of the crop.
On flowers, especially durian flowers during the pistil-opening stage, they pierce and suck sap, causing the petals to turn black and the pistils to ooze sap. They leave tiny specks on the fruit, reducing its market value. They are also vectors for transmitting fungi and bacteria, particularly sooty mold, on crops.

However, at an acceptable population density, they do not cause serious impacts on crop yield. But they spread very quickly due to their habit of flying with the wind, moving from one tree to another, and reproducing rapidly, so control measures should be taken as soon as they are detected.
In the stages before and after pistil opening, if a high population density is observed, pesticide spraying should be carried out: https://baominhagri.com/dac-tri-ruoi-rep-muoi-va-cac-loai-con-trung-khac-3-phut-che-pham-diet-con-trung-ion-k250-bmfe
The product is in a milk-like form, gentle, and does not affect flowers or fruits.
